Overview
After a morning pickup from Jaisalmer, you drive to the starting point of the safari, where the camel handlers prepare the animals. The route is chosen according to the season and conditions on the day, and usually passes through open desert and near small villages. A long break around midday avoids the strongest sun; lunch is prepared or carried along depending on the arrangement.
In the afternoon, the ride continues towards the dunes for sunset. From there, you can return to Jaisalmer or continue to a desert camp for the night.
Physical considerations
Several hours on a camel is more demanding than it sounds. Riders feel it in the legs and back, and the midday heat can be strong outside winter. This safari suits reasonably fit travellers. If you are unsure, consider the Half-Day Sunset Camel Safari, or ask us about a shorter version.
